As a child, Josephine Wall loved bright colors, fantasy and fairy tales. And when she grew up, these passions became the basis of her future profession: Josephine became an artist whose talented work is known all over the world.
Josephine works mainly with acrylic paints, which allow her to paint quickly and create a variety of color and texture effects. Impressed by the illustrations of Arthur Rackham, the surrealism of Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali and the romanticism of the Pre-Raphaelites, the artist creates stunning paintings in which not only the influence of the great masters is felt, but also Josephine Wall's own talent and style.
In most cases, the artist draws inspiration from nature, of which she is a fierce protector. Although through each of her paintings, Josephine tries to convey a message to the audience, at the same time, she hopes that her images will inspire people to create their own fantasies and dreams. It seems that in our time of depression and constant stress, people tend to escape from the real world into a world of fantasies and dreams, and the paintings of Josephine Wall help them in this.
In most interviews, the artist is asked where she gets her ideas. “Everywhere,” replies Josephine, who never complains about a lack of inspiration. Another frequently asked question: "How long does it take to paint one picture?" The artist philosophically replies that this takes her whole life. Well, if we talk about specific terms, then it takes 2-3 weeks to create a picture, which will amount to approximately 100-150 hours of work.
Josephine Wall was born in 1947 in the English county of Surrey and now lives with her family in Dorset. She not only paints, but is also a talented sculptor, tries herself in pottery and even models clothes. You can see the complete collection of the artist's works on the website.
