The brightest, most colorful, solemn event of 2012, Venice Carnival, will begin this week. On Saturday, February 11, the public will see magnificent masks, exquisite costumes, incredible make-up and will be able to plunge into the atmosphere of a grandiose noisy holiday. Despite the fact that there are still a few days before the start of the carnival, people in amazing masks and costumes can already be found today not only in Venice, but also on the streets of other major cities in Italy. So, in anticipation of the main event, a holiday on the water and several small parties dedicated to the performance have already taken place in Venice. The unspoken motto of this carnival sounds like "Our life is a theater". Therefore, it is not surprising that mimes, characters of comedies, tragedies and even fairy tales walk around the city. And no two costumes are alike - each participant in the carnival is individual in its own way.
Many people have been waiting for this event for a whole year, during which they carefully think over every detail of their dress, including makeup, hairstyle and jewelry. Thousands of dollars are spent on costumes - in order to shine in it once on a holiday, and then put it in the closet, and no longer wear it. - it is ugly to appear at the next Venice Carnival in an old outfit.
Of course, many tourists come to Italy specifically to witness a historical event. However, some of them still dress up in masks, for decency, but this cannot be compared with real Venetian masks, of which there are millions in Italy at this time. As already mentioned, the 2012 Venice Carnival starts on Saturday 11 February and runs until Tuesday 21 February.
