On the pages of our online magazine, we continue to discover new names of talented brush masters. And today in our virtual gallery you will see the painting of a young Petersburg impressionist Pavel Eskov, the uniqueness of his work lies not only in techniques, but also in the theme he has chosen. The young painter dedicates his creations to his hometown of St. Petersburg - now illuminated by the rays of the low northern sun, now gloomy and snowy, and then tear-stained by showers … At any time of the day and at different times of the year, this wonderful city on his canvases is truly beautiful.
The artist's paintings, acting as a guide to the old streets, embankments, city squares, carry both a verified compositional solution and the authenticity of architectural structures and structures. The viewer is also interested in the views of recognizable places found by the author, subtly and artistically interpreted details of the architectural ensemble of the city, which is literally filled with movement, life and immersed in the changeable mood of weather conditions.
That is why the special St. Petersburg landscapes of Pavel Eskov are of great interest to many connoisseurs of painting and collectors both in Russia and abroad. Many will probably ask: "Well, what is so unique and special about them?"
Perhaps nothing if this did not concern St. Petersburg, whose residents know firsthand that the sun is always a welcome guest in their hometown. And it is absolutely no secret to anyone that for many, Peter is associated with cloudy and rainy weather. This is how it can often be seen in the works of contemporary St. Petersburg artists.
But a bright sunny day for the Northern capital is truly a holiday that evokes a romantic mood among its inhabitants. That is why Eskov, in search of his author's style, concentrated all his creative skills on creating paintings, where the image of his hometown, restrained in color, permeates with streams of sunlight. Critics say that Pavel Eskov's landscape painting is a kind of hymn to the sun, embodied in colors. It is precisely this that is the highlight of many paintings by the St. Petersburg master.
Also on his canvases you can see how the artist, inspiredly and lyrically in an impressionistic manner, against the background of oblique sunbeams, creates an unusual sensation of ringing air and visual perception of water swell not only in city canals, but also in ordinary puddles after rain.
It is also worth noting that the most colorful palette, with its many colors and shades, as well as individual style and artistic techniques allow the artist to visually transform the picture plane into a mosaic canvas.
Winter landscapes
I would like to pay special attention to the artist's winter landscapes, which give the viewer a special romantic mood. And to a greater extent on those depicting sunny weather. The surprisingly warm sensation of sunlight on the cold palette of these paintings will impress even the discerning viewer.
The painter seems to string sunny days at different times of the year, striving to give a harmonious sound to his painting, and presents ready-made canvases to the viewer for judgment.
Portraits and still lifes of Pavel Eskov
Masterfully mastering the impressionistic manner in the technique of oil painting, the artist works not only in the genre of urban and natural landscapes, he paints magnificent portraits and still lifes.
It is in the genre of still life that the artist is especially magnificent. He literally impregnates his naturalistic works with a bright perception of reality, romantic mood, juicy bright colors, freshness and impressionistic painting techniques. At the same time, using the simplest household items and the delightful beauty of flowers, including field flowers.

The artist himself characterizes his work as follows:

In 2009, Eskov's cityscapes took second place among the works of young artists at the exhibition of the Royal Society of Painters in England. And of course, the St. Petersburg master, who has a huge creative potential in the future, has a brilliant future …
