Star Wars is a film that has won the hearts of several generations of viewers, and many artists in one way or another turned to this universe. Swedish artist Mattias Adolfsson is no exception, but he did a very original way: he painted all the characters of the Star Wars universe in a Victorian style. Darth Vader in a curly helmet, Master Yoda in a vintage outfit, and more.
As mentioned above, the Star Wars theme attracted artists from different directions - it is worth remembering at least ceramics in this style, or even the use of Darth Vader as a symbol of Earth Day.
Adolfsson did not reinvent the wheel, making a simple thing, like everything ingenious, by combining the seemingly uncombined. Matthias captured all the main characters, from the Imperial stormtroopers to Darth Vader, and as a result we get not “a long time ago in a distant, distant galaxy”, but “several centuries ago in Western Europe”.
Mattias Adolfsson lives and works in Sweden and is a freelance illustrator. She uses a fountain pen to create her funny drawings, and uses watercolors for coloring. Which proves once again: to create interesting works, it is more important to attract with content, and not with form.
Drawings and sketches by Matthias Adolfson are by no means limited to Star Wars. On his website www.mattiasadolfsson.se there are many galleries with very funny works. He also has a blog, in one of the posts of which he writes: “The secret of a good blog with pictures is to write on it often. And to write in it often, you need to draw a lot. What he is doing with success.
