The sea is said to have a unique energy that makes travelers yearn for the rustle of waves and the taste of salty water on their lips. One cannot but love the endless expanses of the sea, one cannot but recognize the greatness of this unknown element. There are a great many marine painters and photographers who shoot sea waves. But I must admit that each work depicting the sea is unique. Today's review is dedicated to photography by photographer Andrew Smith and his vision of the sea.
Nearly all photographs show the coast of New Zealand. All images were taken with the Nikon D800 and then processed in Adobe Lightroom. Although, I must admit that the photos are distinguished by a minimum of computer processing, and each frame literally breathes sea freshness. It seems that the wind is about to blow and bring the smell of algae, salt water, and the viewer will also hear the cry of a hungry seagull circling above the sea surface in search of prey.
Not all photographers can achieve this effect. One such talented performer is Will Ho, who has captured glowing bioluminescent phytoplankton in the Maldives. This unique natural phenomenon resembles a cluster of thousands of fireflies that decided to swim. In fact, phytoplankton are algae that glow under the influence of rolling waves.
